Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Peterlee
If you’re searching for drug and alcohol rehab in Perterlee, you may feel daunted by the amount of treatment options there are out there.
It can be hard to understand the different types of treatments, if you’ve never received any before, and decipher which one is the best choice for you. The first big decision you’ll have to make is whether you want residential rehab or out-patient treatments.
The main difference between residential and outpatient treatment, is that residential rehab requires you to live onsite for the duration of your treatment, whereas you can receive out-patient treatment whilst living at home.
At a first glance, out-patient treatment may seem like the most convenient option, as well as being cheaper. However, it’s worth considering the benefits you’ll receive from residential rehab before making up your mind.
Although it costs more than outpatient treatment, residential rehab can provide you with the distance you need from the negative influences in your life to give you the chance to fully recover.
Alongside distance, you’ll receive dual diagnosis treatments, meaning that you’ll undergo treatments that can help you heal both your mind and body, giving you the greatest chance of long term recovery.

Our approach
Upon arrival you’ll undergo a full medical assessment, whereby we’ll assess your physical and psychological health. From this assessment, our expert team will work with you to determine your personalised treatment programme for your 28 day stay.
Detoxification
Every treatment programme starts with detoxification.
Since some patients arrive under the influence, we start detox straight away. Detox usually lasts a couple of days, but will vary person to person. Our medical team will supervise this whole process and will provide round the clock care and assistance.
During your detox, your consumption levels will be slowly reduced until your body is clear from the substance. Since you will have built up a dependence on this substance, it’s likely that you’ll experience withdrawal symptoms during this process.
These symptoms will vary depending on the length and severity of your addiction, but may include any of the following:
- Sweating
- Nausea and vomiting
- Shakiness
- Blood pressure and heart rate changes and fluctuations
- Interrupted sleeping patterns and even insomnia
- Depression
- Hallucinations
- Anxiety
- Seizures
It’s important to note that all detoxes conducted at our centres are medically supervised by experienced staff, so you can rest assured that you’ll receive the care required to keep you comfortable and safe throughout detoxification.
Therapy
Once you’ve completed detox you’ll start your therapy treatments.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the most common type of therapy used to treat addiction, since it helps to identify root causes of addiction and can help you to manage, moderate and change behavioural patterns to develop a healthier and more positive lifestyle.
CBT uses a form of psychoeducation to help you change certain habits and behaviours to redefine how you approach certain situations and develop more positive thought processes.
Alongside CBT, you have the opportunity to choose from a variety of holistic treatments including:
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Motivational workshops
- Art therapy
- Fitness classes
- Medication and mindfulness workshops
- Group activities, such as quiz nights and movie nights.
Once you’ve completed your 28 day treatment programme we’ll work with you to complete a Relapse Prevention Plan to help you readjust to life back home.
Facilities
All of our centres provide state-of-the-art facilities, with private, ensuite rooms, comfortable and homely living quarters and well maintained grounds. You’ll receive a tour of the facilities available to you when you arrive at one of our centres.
Our closest drug and alcohol rehab centre to Peterlee is located a short drive away, in Hartlepool. We also have a centre located slightly further afield in Sunderland. Both locations provide peaceful settings, close to the coast and local nature reserves.
Residential rehab is often thought of as clinical and prison-like, which could not be further from the truth. At our centres you’ll feel at home, surrounded by supportive staff and peers. We also organise group trips, days out and encourage our patients to explore local surroundings.
Where to start
If you’re ready to take back control of your life, then we’re here to help you. Often admitting that you have an addiction is the hardest step to take, but once you’ve overcome your denial you’re ready to start one of our residential rehab programmes.
Contact our friendly and supportive team today for a free and confidential conversation about how we can help you turn your life around and achieve long term recovery.
