Types Of Drug Addiction Helplines

In the United Kingdom, drug addiction helplines help those struggling with a drug addiction secure treatment.

Open 24/7, drug addiction helplines include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Cocaine Anonymous
  • Narcotics Anonymous
  • FRANK
  • DAN 24/7

Although drug addictions undeniably have the most considerable impact on those who have become reliant on drugs, drug addictions also significantly affect family members, friends and even employers.

As a result, the following drug addiction helplines focus on ensuring that those affected by someone else’s addiction can seek help.

  • Adfam
  • DrugFam
  • Families Anonymous

Drug Addiction Helplines

Below, we have provided an overview of several drug addiction helplines and shared how you can contact them.

Cocaine Anonymous

Cocaine anonymous offers instant advice and support to those struggling with a drug addiction via their helpline. In addition to providing a drug addiction helpline, Cocaine Anonymous hosts several drug support groups that can be attended both in-person and online.

To contact Cocaine Anonymous, call 0800 612 0225.

Narcotics Anonymous

Run by volunteers recovering from drug addictions, the Narcotics Anonymous helpline can assist with a wide range of drug addictions. Often the first point of contact for many, Narcotics Anonymous can be contacted by addicts and those affected by another person’s addiction.

Operating from 10 am to midnight every day, call 0300 999 1212 for instant help.

FRANK

One of the most contacted drug addiction helplines, FRANK, has ensured that thousands of individuals receive the help they need when they need it. Offering confidential advice, FRANK can be contacted 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Whether you are personally struggling with a drug addiction or are hoping to support a loved one, call 0300 123 6600 to talk to a representative at FRANK.

DAN 24/7

DAN 24/7 is a drug addiction helpline created to ensure that individuals in Wales can access immediate advice and guidance to help them cope with their drug addiction.

Call DAN 24/7 on 0808 808 2234 or text DAN to 81066.

DrugFam

Launched specifically to help those affected by someone else’s addiction secure support and assistance, DrugFam ensures that family members and friends have an outlet to voice their concerns and understand how they can cope better.

If someone else’s addiction has impacted your life, contact 0300 888 3853 today.

Families Anonymous

Families Anonymous supplies confidential counselling to family members and friends that have watched a loved one struggle with addiction.

Though Families Anonymous typically provides support and guidance via their drug support groups, they also have a drug addiction helpline run by individuals who have previously been affected by a loved one’s addiction.

Call 0207 4984 680 to speak to someone today.

Our Drug Addiction Helpline

At Addiction Advocates, we also have a drug addiction helpline that can be contacted irrespective of the time of day. Just as the addiction helplines noted above offer a plethora of support to those struggling with or affected by drug addiction, ours does too.

In addition to offering support, our drug addiction helpline also guarantees that referrals can be sought for addiction treatment within a relatively short period.

Where To Get Help For A Drug Addiction

Although drug addiction helplines are often the first port of call when an individual realises that addiction is impairing their life, drug addiction helplines cannot provide the treatment required to overcome an addiction.

To secure help for drug addiction, either an inpatient or outpatient drug rehab must be attended. While both rehab options administer effective treatments, here at Addiction Advocates, we advise those who contact our drug addiction helpline to participate in an inpatient rehab due to the benefits associated.

Typically lasting 28 days, treatment provided by an inpatient drug rehab includes detoxification and rehabilitation. These treatments guarantee that the physical and psychological ramifications of drug addictions can be overcome.Support

Additionally, relapse prevention and aftercare are available to ensure that sobriety can be maintained upon completing a rehab programme.

However, we understand that inpatient rehab is not always a suitable option. As a result, should you contact our drug addiction helpline, we will listen to your personal needs and recommend an appropriate course of action.

Whether you are looking to secure confidential support and guidance or would like to refer yourself or a loved one for drug addiction treatment, here at Addiction Advocates, we welcome you to contact us today by calling our free addiction helpline on 0800 012 6088.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I call a helpline on behalf of a family member?
If you are worried that a family member is struggling with a drug addiction, you can contact the following drug addiction helplines:
  • FRANK
  • DrugFam
  • Families Anonymous
These particular drug addiction helplines will ensure that you can seek advice and guidance on dealing with a drug addiction. They will also help you understand the drug addiction treatment that is available for a family member.
How do I build the confidence to call a Drug Addiction helpline?
Calling a drug addiction helpline will enable you to take the first step in addressing your addiction. You will also have the opportunity to understand the treatment and support that is available. However, like many others, you may find the prospect of doing so nerve-wracking. To build the confidence to call a drug addiction helpline, we encourage you to remember that your call is confidential. You should also remember that many drug addiction helpline employees and volunteers have recovered from addictions themselves. As a result, they know exactly how you feel and understand what you are going through.
How do I know if I have a Drug Addiction?
If you have a drug addiction, you will encounter physical and psychological symptoms such as nausea, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, paranoia, hallucinations and changes in your appearance. You may also lose a significant amount of weight, and you will find that your appetite changes. As these particular symptoms surface, you will find that you experience intense cravings for drugs, and you may begin to participate in anti-social behaviour. Additionally, it is not uncommon for interest in hobbies and day-to-day life to decrease.
